Miami, Florida - USA
May 28 to 30, 2010

In the Spotlight this week is the DOCMIAMI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, celebrating the non-fiction genre during Memorial Day weekend in beautiful Doral, Florida, located in Miami-Dade County.

The Festival brings together emerging and established documentarians, students, and film and music enthusiasts in a truly bohemian, one-of-a-kind event. DocMiami serves up three days of cutting-edge documentary film screenings and caps off each night with lively music concert benefits, in celebration of the documentary genre. Funds raised during the concerts will benefit Brick by Brick for Tanzania, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to building schools in the African nation challenged by unrest, drought, and the AIDS crisis.

Exhibiting doc-makers receive discounted resort accommodations at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa, host to many DocMiami festivities, as well as special rates on golfing and spa services. The Festival presents awards in each category of entry, to be awarded at the Festival's awards gala hosted by Tito Puente, Jr. The 2010 Festival will also present a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award to honor Nicolás Guillén Landrián (EN UN BARRIO VIEJO), considered by many to be the most original Cuban documentary filmmaker of all time.
