Nowadays the potential of the internet stretches to documentary film funding. Simon Klose, former DFA member, has written from Sweden to say that he has raised funding for his latest documentary project, The Pirate Bay Away from the Keyboard, via Kickstarter.

Another online funding source that bypasses commissioning editors and goes straight to the audience would be IndieGoGo.

Now that South Africa has PayPal via FNB, we have the opportunity to use these platforms. Simon has confirmed that Kickstarter requires project applicants to have a US bank account. IndieGoGo, however, is open to everybody.
