Cape Film Commission to represent Western Cape DFA Members at IDFA

The Cape Film Commission and the DFA have been in regular discussion about how to build the documentary industry in the Western Cape. A delegation from the CFC will be attending the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam (IDFA)

Purpose Of this Mission:
The purpose of this mission will be to meet with funding bodies, distributors and broadcasters.

Jacky Lourens, CFC's Interim Marketing Manager, will be representing the CFC in Amsterdam. DFA board member Dylan Valley - who has served a three year term as Youth Portfolio - will be accompanying her and will be representing the DFA Western Cape. Dylan's film AFRIKAAPS is at Docs For Sale this year.

One of the marketing objectives of the CFC is to market the Western Cape Film Industry internationally and locally by showcasing product and talent, as well as facilitating investment and development of the film industry and content in the Western Cape.

In view of these objectives the CFC would like to engage and represent Western Cape filmmakers on this trip. DFA members and documentary filmmakers in the Western Cape are invited to send a list of their documentary films that are in development or ready for sale - that can make up part of a catalogue or brochure.

• Please send a short synopsis of a 150 words of the film you are working.
• Status of project: In Development, In Production or Completed.
• Key Creatives: Director, Camera, Producer.
• Duration.
• Supporting stills.
• If you have a screener available please deliver to the CFC offices.

The deadline for these submissions is this Friday the 12th of November.

Any other specifics around the project can be mailed to jacky@getthepicture.co.za. If you have specific contacts that you feel the team should meet with please also inform Jacky Lourens.

This is an opportunity for Western Cape Documentary Filmmakers who are unable to attend to have their films represented. Our Johannesburg based treasurer Pascal Schmidt will also be attending the festival this year, with his own project on his own steam and will also be representing the DFA at the Festival.
