We are trying to follow up on outstanding SABC debt owed to producers and freelancers. SABC had promised to pay all outstanding debt by the end of March 2010. However, we are getting word that many of us have not received overdue payments. Please can you take the time to update us on the status of your payment so that we can either tick you off the list or continue to fight for what you are owed.

This update is written on behalf of the TVIEC (Television Industry Emergency Coalition) which consists of: IPO (Independent Producers Organization), SASFED (South African Screen Federation), TPA (The Producers Alliance), DFA (Documentary Filmmakers Association), WGSA (Writers Guild of South Africa) as well as CWU (Creative Workers Union).
Booza TV is a fake TV station that takes a humorous, tongue-in cheek and sometimes serious look at drinking culture in the Mothercity, along the lines of Super-Size me or Bowling for Columbine. Use is made of interviews, spoof fake alcohol adverts and imaginary sequences, action sequences, animation and American archival footage circa 1950. The series in intended for national television broadcast and local community screenings. Booza TV is looking for a humorously serious, creative and passionate Editing Assistant.

Qualification/experience in digital editing
Sense of humour
Passion for both fiction and non-fiction editing
Keen appreciation of the use music and sound in film
Must already live in Cape Town
Must have own Mac (laptop)

Membership for the 2011/12 year costs ZAR300, and we also offer a half price if you join as a new member from January of a year, as our membership cycle is till mid-year. We also have limited membership bursaries available for those that are not able to afford the membership.
